Inter vs Atletico Madrid Possible Starting Lineups for UEFA Champions League 2023/24

Inter Milan will look to put together another run to the finals when they face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Inter Milan are enjoying a fine season on the domestic stage and will be hoping to put together another memorable run on the continental stage when they take on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

It will be the first meeting between these two giants since the UEFA Super Cup 2010. The Colchoneros came out on top that night and it promises to be another tough contest between two outstanding managers.

Atlético Madrid will remember well their last trip to Italy when they handed Juventus a two-goal advantage as Cristiano Ronaldo put them to the sword. The Rojiblancos also hold a 100% win rate at the San Siro, beating AC Milan in both.

Inter made it to the finals of the competition last season, losing to Manchester City in Istanbul. They look impressive again and will be hoping to go one better this time. A convincing win over Salernitana at the weekend, combined with dropping points at Juventus and AC Milan, means Inter Milan have a foothold at the top of the Serie A table.

Atlético Madrid, on the other hand, are not challenging for the title this season. Diego Simeone’s men have prepared for this match with a 5-0 thrashing of La Palmas and will be reasonably confident of suffocating Lautaro Martinez and co on the night.

Inter Milan have started 2024 with eight straight wins in all competitions and are arguably the most in-form team in Europe. Despite finishing second in the group stages, behind Real Sociedad, the Nerazzurri have shown little weakness this season.

Atlético won’t make it easy with their combative style. Simone Inzaghi has molded the Italian giants into a formidable unit that will be ready for any challenge, especially given their recent success.

It is unlikely to be an open game and more of a chess match between two of Europe’s top managers. The two were teammates for Lazio in their 1999/2000 double-winning campaign. No love is lost between the duo in the night. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the clash ahead of the last meeting between the two sides.
