Man City vs FC Copenhagen Possible Starting Lineups for UEFA Champions League 2023/24

Manchester City take a 3-1 lead into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash with FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, but Pep Guardiola has a delicate balance to strike.

The City manager is reluctant to name anything less than a strong side for the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, but with a two-goal cushion and Sunday’s pivotal Premier League trip to Liverpool on the horizon, changes are likely for the holders.

Copenhagen played City in the group stage of last year’s competition and were beaten 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Team news

England international Jack Grealish is expected to be Guardiola’s only player absent, with Josko Guardiol returning to the squad.

The hosts are expected to rotate, which could mean starts for Julian Alvarez, Matheus Nunes, Manuel Akanji and Mateo Kovacic.

FC Copenhagen have lost key striker Viktor Claesson to injury since the first match and Jordan Larsson is expected to replace him in attack.

Man City predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Ederson (GK) — Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Rodri—Nunes, Alvarez, Kovacic, Bobb — Haaland.

FC Copenhagen predicted XI (4-3-3): Grabara (GK) — Jelert, Vavro, McKenna, Diks — Goncalves, Falk, Mattsson — Elyounoussi, Larsson, Achouri.
