Inter Miami vs Nashville SC Possible Starting Lineups for Concacaf Champions Cup 2024

Inter Miami

Nashville looks to exact their revenge on Inter Miami for last year’s League Cup upset as they travel to Chase Stadium in Florida for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup 2024 round of 16 clash.

After a 2-2 draw in the first leg last week, the tie is wide open, giving both sides a fantastic opportunity to progress to the Continental Club Championship. Inter Miami has a slight advantage as their two goals in Nashville in the first leg have secured them a tie unless Nashville matches or beats them here.

Leo Messi was rested at the weekend against CF Montreal as Inter Miami suffered their first defeat of the year. However, Inter head coach Tata Martino has confirmed that the Argentine is ready to start this CONCACAF match against MLS opposition.

This match still has some needle in it, rather than a rematch of last year’s League Cup final. Lionel Messi was the target of a nail-biting tackle by Nashville FC defender Lukas MacNaughton in the first game.

Team News

Lionel Messi was rested after last weekend’s loss against Montreal, but Tata Martino confirmed it was due to pre-planned maintenance and unrelated to Lukas MacNaughton’s nail-biting run in the first leg of this continental fixture. So Lionel Messi will be good to start in this match.

Inter Miami are missing Benjamin Cremaschi and Facundo Farias, with the former recovering from hernia surgery and the latter working on an ACL injury. Ian Fray and Franco Negri could return from ACL injuries before the end of the month but are likely to be slow.

Inter Miami starting lineup (5-3-2):

Callender (GK) — Gressel, Aviles, Kryvtsov, Freire, Alba – Redondo, Busquets, D. Gomez — Messi, Suarez.

Nashville SC starting lineup (4-2-3-1):

Willis (GK) — Moore, MacNaughton, Maher, Lovitz — Godoy, Davis — Muyl, Mukhtar, Shaffelburg — Boyd.
