Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 Qarabag: Leverkusen score twice in stoppage-time to beat Qarabag and stay unbeaten

After a shock result in the Europa League 1st leg, Qarabag came into the night with a chip on their shoulders, looking to stun the Bundesliga leaders.

The biggest shock of the day came in the 2nd half at the BayArena when the visitors took the lead through Abdellah Zoubir, who fired Qarabag from the front.

However, the tie turned almost immediately after Elvin Cafarguliyev was sent off from behind on Jeremie Frimpong.

Qarabag surprisingly doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time minutes later when Juninho finished off a superb counter-attack to stun the home crowd.

It didn’t take long for Leverkusen to hit back as Frimpong fired home at the back post to reduce the lead.

While it looked like Qarabag would pull off an unlikely victory in Germany, Patrik Schick pounced in second-half stoppage time to equalize and seemingly send the game into extra time.

This was not to be the case as the Czech forward rose to the occasion in the 97th minute to head home the winner and keep Leverkusen’s unbeaten run intact.
