Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back after Al Hilal fans taunted him by chanting Lionel Messi during the Riyadh Season Cup match between the two sides.
Before the match even started, there were surreal scenes as WWE legend The Undertaker – complete with his full “Deadman” entrance – appeared to lift the trophy. It is reported that he will present the trophy to the winning team on a full-time basis.
Once the match got underway, it was a nightmare start for Ronaldo as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic opened the scoring for Al Hilal in the 17th minute.
Salem Al Dawsari then made it 2-0 after 30 minutes, leaving Al Nassr with a mountain to climb in the second half.
It was a half to forget for Ronaldo, who missed an early scoring opportunity – and the crowd certainly let him know it.
As the second half began, Ronaldo earned a booking from American referee Tori Penso.
The 39-year-old, clearly unhappy with the decision that had been made, responded by smashing the ball straight into the crowd from the center circle row.
Various Lionel Messi chants echoed throughout the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, with Al Hilal taking the opportunity to mock their opponents’ star man.
Ronaldo then responded with a thumbs up towards the crowd before pulling out his iconic “calm down” hand gesture.
