Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Possible lineups, Team news, TV Chnnel & prediction for La Liga 2023/24

madrid derby

The fourth Madrid derby of the 2023/24 season and the second in the last three weeks takes place at the Bernabeu on Sunday.

Atlético Madrid have been the biggest thorn in the side of La Liga title favorites Real Madrid throughout the year. Diego Simeone has beaten Real Madrid twice in their three games this season, with the third requiring extra time to decide the winner.

No other club has managed to beat Real Madrid in any competition this season as they sit a point off the top of the La Liga table with a game in hand with leaders Girona.

Atleti have won three of their last four league games to help them qualify for the UEFA Champions League, are fourth in the standings, two points back of third-placed Barcelona and 10 years off the top.

Team news

Star midfielder Jude Bellingham will return to the Real Madrid squad after missing the last match against Las Palmas due to a yellow card suspension.

Aside from three players – Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba – out with ACL tears for the foreseeable future, Real Madrid boast a fully fit squad.

Atlético Madrid are missing a number of players due to injury. Jose Gimenez is out for several weeks with a muscle injury, while Cesar Azpilicueta damaged his meniscus in extra time during the two clubs’ previous meeting.

Goal hawk Alvaro Morata was rested against Valencia last time out, seeing just 23 minutes off the bench, but should be fit to start here. Diego Simeone has consistently rotated his midfield throughout the season, with Saul Niguez, Rodrigo Riquelme, Pablo Barrios and Marcos Llorente all shuffled through recent starting lineups.

Real Madrid: Lunin (GK) — Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, F. Mendy — Valverde, Camavinga, Bellingham, Kroos — Rodrygo, Vinicius.

Atletico Madrid: Oblak (GK) — Witsel, Savic, Hermoso — Llorente, De Paul, Koke, Saul, Lino — Morata, Griezmann.

prediction –  Real Madrid 3-2 Atletico Madrid
