Qatar vs. Iran Possible Starting lineups, Team news & prediction for AFC Asian Cup 2023 Semi-final

Iran will face hosts Qatar in the semi-finals of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 on February 7.

Qatar are aiming to become the first team to defend their title in the competition since Japan’s double triumph in 2000 and 2004, with Iran failing to reach the final since winning the trophy in 1976.

Despite being knocked out in the group stages as hosts of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar have bounced back in this competition but face a real test against Iran.

Iran booked their place in the semi-finals with a 2-1 win over pre-tournament favorites Japan as Feyenoord winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh netted in an extra-time penalty.

Star striker Mehdi Taremi is back in the squad after serving a one-match ban against Japan.

Qatar needed a penalty shoot-out to get past Uzbekistan in the previous round and Sultan Al-Brake was able to step up and start for the visitors.
