Man City vs Burnley Player ratings as Julian Alvarez brace keeps pressure on Liverpool

Manchester City overcame Burnley as Julian Alvarez’s brace helped the champions to a 3-0 win.

Vincent Kompany was back at the Etihad as Burnley boss with the Clarets looking to make a surprise dent in Man City’s title hopes.

As expected, it was all City in the opening exchanges, with Pep Guardiola’s side monopolizing possession but unable to create any clear-cut chances.

It didn’t take long for City to find the back post as Julian Alvarez headed in from close range.

And the Argentina international doubled his advantage just moments later when he latched on to Kevin De Bruyne’s clever free-kick before finishing first time.

City did not let up after the break as Rodri almost immediately added a third with a brilliant finish from the edge of the box.

Burnley pulled one back in stoppage time as Ameen Al-Dakhil netted his first Premier League goal.
