The Galaxy completely dominated the opening 45 minutes, missing a number of chances to capitalize on their pressure and get ahead. New signing Joseph Paintsil was electric on the counter-attack, but he and Puig couldn’t find the finish.

Finally, in the 75th minute, they grabbed the lead through Joveljic, but it didn’t last long. Mark Delgado was sent off for a second yellow card and Messi was given new life, combining brilliantly with Jordi Alba to secure a late equalizer in the 92nd minute to peg the Galaxy back.
