Inter Milan vs Atlético Madrid Player Rating as Inter take upper hand against Atlético

Inter came out late to gain the upper hand in their last UEFA Champions League match against Atlético de Madrid.

Simeone Inzaghi met former Lazio team-mate Diego Simeone in what was remarkably only the second meeting between their teams.

The visitors stepped up the pressure in the first half and should have opened the scoring when Lautaro Martínez raced clear and fired tamely at Jan Oblak.

But the Nerazzurri came out of the break with renewed momentum as substitute Marko Arnautović replaced the injured Marcus Thuram and fired over the bar early on.

In another chance for the Austrian, he met Nicola Barella’s cross at the far post with a header that flew wide as Atleti looked to introduce Álvaro Morata.

Arnautović finally broke the deadlock after 11 minutes when he turned the ball home after Oblak spilled Martínez’s attempted counter-attack into his path.

Inter travel to Civitas Metropolitano with the aim of securing a place in the quarter-finals on March 13.
