Arsenal welcome Newcastle United to the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League’s late kick-off on Saturday.

The Gunners return to domestic action after beating Porto in extra time in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies have had a rocky start to 2024 defensively and are yet to keep a clean sheet in the new year.

Team news

Arteta has not confirmed any new injuries following the defeat in Portugal, but full-back pair Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined.

The main focus will be on the potential return of Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazil international having missed the last four games with a knee injury. Both Jesus and Thomas Partey push for a return.

“We’ve got another session today and [Partey] has obviously been out for many, many months and we need to really hone in on the timing and when he’ll have enough in the tank to compete, but I think he’s very close,” Arteta said at his press conference on Friday conference: “It’s the same with Gabby [Jesus], he did a few things.”

Eddie Howe is still missing a number of first-team stars but will be late talking about the fitness of Joe Willock and Alexander Isak.

Arsenal  (4-3-3): Raya (GK) — White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior — Odegaard, Rice, Havertz — Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

Newcastle (4-3-3): Dubravka (GK) — Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn — Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley — Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
