Nigeria will open their AFCON 2024 campaign with a Group A clash against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.

The Super Eagles are heavily tipped to join hosts Ivory Coast and book a place in the Round of 16 knockouts against their bitter group rivals.

However, Nigeria have endured a mixed record in the competition in recent years after failing to qualify in 2015 and 2017 and their last title coming in 2013.

Nigeria have one of the strongest squads available at AFCON 2024 with a star-studded attack featuring Napoli striker Victor Osimhene. Bayer Leverkusen’s emerging talent Victor Boniface had to withdraw from the squad late on due to a muscle problem.

Equatorial Guinea are expected to battle for third place in Group A alongside Guinea-Bissau at AFCON 2024.
