Girona vs Atletico Madrid Possible lineups, team news and TV Channel for La Liga 2023/24

The 2023-24 edition of La Liga is back in action with another set of fixtures this week as Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid take on an impressive Girona side at the Estadio Montilivi on Wednesday.

Girona are currently second in the La Liga standings and have consistently punched above their weight this season. The home side drew 1-1 against Real Betis last week and will need to improve on that in this game.

On the other hand, Atlético Madrid are currently third in the league table and have been quite impressive so far this season. Los Colchoneros held Sevilla to a narrow 1-0 victory in their previous match and will look to achieve a similar result this week.

Team news

All still dealing with their respective injury issues, Girona will be without the likes of Toni Villa, Joel Roca, Ricard Artero and Broja Garcia. Sanchez’s side, who are still recovering from a hamstring problem, are also expected to be unable to use midfield talisman Yangel Herrera.

Diego Simeone’s side would be without some of their key players during the match against Girona. Thomas Lemar, an attacking midfielder, and Pablo Barrios, a central midfielder, will miss the match with a ruptured Achilles tendon and meniscus damage.

Left winger Vitolo will also miss the match due to a knee injury. Atletico also face the risk of missing some of their key players such as Koke and Jose Maria Gimenez as both have four yellow cards. Simeone is unlikely to change his squad for the match, considering they are playing against in-form Girona.

Girona Predicted Lineup (4-2-3-1):

Gazzaniga(GK); Blind, Lopez, Garcia, Gutierrez; Martin, Garcia: Couto, Torre, Savio; Dovbyk

Atletico Madrid Predicted Lineup (3-5-2):

Oblak(GK); Lino, Witsel, Molina; Gimenez, Azpilicueta, Paul, Griezmann, Koke; Riquelme, Morata
