Newcastle vs AC Milan Possible Lineups, Team News, TV Channel for UEFA Champions League 2023/24

Dubbed the “Group of Death”, UEFA Champions League Group F, featuring Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United and AC Milan, has always gone down. Both Newcastle and Milan go into Wednesday’s showdown in St. James’ Park with a chance to leap into the qualifying places of their group.

Level on five points, both sides need to win and hope Dortmund beat PSG in Germany if they are to qualify. Newcastle could go through if Dortmund and PSG draw as they still have the better head-to-head record against the French side, picking up four points from two home and away matches. Milan would have to win by six goals as their goal difference is -4 and they have a draw against PSG.

Eddie Howe’s side enter the final battered and bruised after a disciplined couple of days recovering from two miserable three-goal defeats to Everton (3-0) and Tottenham (4-1) as injuries and a hectic fixture look set to finally catch up with them .

Last week’s results left them seven points outside the top four ahead of their final Champions League group game. Meanwhile, Milan arrive on Tyneside after a painful defeat at the weekend. The Rossoneri conceded in the 95th minute to lose 3-2 at Atalanta, having twice come from behind, but succumbed to Luis Muriel’s second-half injury-time strike in the fifth minute.

The reverse fixture ended 0-0 at the San Siro. But it seems unlikely that this will be another stalemate on Wednesday. Neither side have looked solid defensively in their recent encounters, which could make this a cracking goal-scoring showdown. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the clash ahead of the last meeting between the two sides.
