Morocco will welcome Liberia to the Stade Adrar on Saturday in the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The hosts suffered their first defeat of the qualifying campaign in their previous outing, losing 2-1 to South Africa. Hakim Ziyech halved the deficit in the 60th minute, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
The guests have so far remained winless in the qualifying campaign and have suffered two defeats in three matches. After holding South Africa to a 2-2 draw in March, they failed to build on that form, suffering a 2-1 home loss to Bafana Bafana.
The hosts have struggled to build on their impressive performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and have just one win in their seven matches since then. With Zimbabwe disqualified, the hosts have already booked their place in the main competition and this match is a mere formality.
