Spain upset Georgia to match Group A leaders Scotland in their final Euro 2024 qualifier.

It didn’t take long for Luis de la Fuente’s side to make the breakthrough when Marco Asensio’s cross was headed in by Álvaro Morata.

A second followed for La Roja just six minutes later when Solomon Kvirkvelia turned Dani Olmo’s low cross into his own net with an outstretched foot.

Olmo added a third shortly before half-time in Tbilisi by drilling past Giorgi Mamardashvili before Morata doubled his tally with a close-range strike.

History was also made when Lamine Yamal became his country’s youngest ever debutant when he replaced the injured Olmo at the end of the opening 45 minutes.

Giorgi Chakvetadze reduced the visitors’ deficit at the beginning of the second half with a shot that Unai Simón dribbled into his own net.

But Morata killed their hopes of a potential fightback by completing his hat-trick after being played in by Mikel Merino to finish.

Substitute Nico Williams compounded Georgia’s woes after just three minutes with a superb individual effort that went through the legs of Mamardashvili.

Yamal completed a memorable international bow by producing a curling finish to become Spain’s youngest goalscorer as well as debutant.
