Sergio Romero is expected to be recalled to the Argentina national team.

Sergio Romero is expected to be included in Argentina’s national team for September’s World Cup qualifiers.  According to Fernando Czyz, Sergio Romero will be one of the backup goalkeepers in the team.

The Argentine has been in great form since joining Boca Juniors and could be the third goalkeeper for the September fixtures.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper was Argentina’s starting goalkeeper when they reached the 2014 World Cup final and was the hero in that year’s semi-final penalty shoot-out against the Netherlands.

He played 96 games for Argentina, winning the Under-20 World Cup and Olympic gold. Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina national team will play their first two World Cup qualifiers next month.

The first is at home against Ecuador on September 7 and the second is away against Bolivia on September 12.
