Sergio Ramos snubs Saudi Arabia offer, enters talks with Galatasaray

Sergio Ramos

Free agent Sergio Ramos was a target for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, but the latter backed out of the deal.

According to Fanatik (h/t Relevo), the player has pushed aside Saudi interest and is in talks with Galatasaray.

They are ready to offer the experienced defender a two-year contract that will earn him around 5.5 million euros per year.

The centre-back has been on the free market since leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer as part of a big-name move at the French club.

Ramos experienced a resurgence in his second season at the Paris club after struggling with injuries in his first season.

However, his performances were not enough to keep him at the club despite wanting to stay.

Ramos was reportedly a target for Inter Miami, Los Angeles FC and Al-Nassr.

He wasn’t interested in an offer from Miami that would have reunited him with Lionel Messi after their Paris adventure.

The former Spain international rejected LAFC’s offer to form a veteran pair with Giorgio Chiellini.

There have also been rumors of a return to boyhood club Sevilla, but those prospects have dwindled due to the Andalusian club’s dire financial situation.

The defender beat Al-Ahli and is still weighing up his offers as he talks to Galatasaray.

Ramos may prefer Galatasaray’s offer as MLS clubs have offered him short-term deals.

If all goes to plan for the Turkish club, he will become their 11th summer signing as they bid to retain the Super Lig title.

They have already signed on-loan striker Mauro Icardi on a permanent basis following his successful loan spell last season.

The Argentinian international is joined by Kerem Demirbay, Tete, Wilfried Zaha, Angelino, Cedric Bakambu, Kaan Ayhan, Halil Dervisoglu, Gunay Guvenc and Caner Dogan.
