Lionel Messi scored twice, while Alan Velasco, Facundo Quigón and Benjamin Cremaschi scored for their sides in Inter Miami’s penalty shootout win against FC Dallas in the League Cup.
Messi continues to steal the show for Inter Miami and it was no different against FC Dallas. Messi took just six minutes to give Inter Miami a 1-0 lead. It was a goal we saw several times in Barcelona as Jordi Alba pulled the ball back to Messi and the best player in the world scored.
Another Argentine would score as Facundo Quigón would draw FC Dallas level. FC Dallas took the lead just before halftime.
Alan Velasco was arguably the best player on the field, scoring FC Dallas’ third goal from a free kick. Benjamin Cremaschi was brought on as a substitute for Inter Miami and scored minutes after being substituted in the match. Cremaschi was previously called up to Argentina’s under-20 national team for a training camp.
Robert Taylor would score an own goal to make it 4-2 for FC Dallas. Inter Miami won the free kick and Lionel Messi’s cross into the penalty area was found by Marco Farfan, but he would have scored an own goal.
Inter Miami were awarded a free kick at the end of the match and it was Lionel Messi who took it. And just like in his first Inter Miami match, he scored a free kick. The game would go to penalty kicks.
The best player in the world would take the first penalty kick and score. Facundo Quigón would score a penalty for FC Dallas, but it was Benjamin Cremaschi who scored the final penalty kick for Inter Miami to win.
