Al Nassr visit the King Fahd Stadium on Monday (July 31) to face Monastir in the Arab Club Champions Cup, looking to bounce back from their opening-day disappointment.
The Knights of Najd held Al-Shabab to a goalless draw on the first day in a frustrating outing. They managed fewer shots (7-9), fewer shots on target (3-4) and also had less possession (48%-52%).
Manager Luis Castro threw on his star strikers, Cristiano Ronaldo and Talisco, in the second half, but neither could make the cut as Al Nassr settled for a share of the spoils.
The draw was a reflection of their pre-season campaign as Al Nassr have won just twice in six games. In the first two friendlies, they faced minnows Alverca and Farense, but were defeated by Celta Vigo (5-0) and Benfica (4-1) in the next two. PSG and Inter Milan then held them to a 0:0 and 1:1 draw.
Meanwhile, Monastir were demolished 4-0 by Zamalek in their first Arab Club Cup match. The onslaught began with a Bechir Ben Said own goal in the 27th minute before Ahmed Sayed doubled their lead before the break.
Sayed Abdallah then netted a second-half brace as the Tunisian side embarrassed themselves. Monastir are last in Group C without a point, while Al Nassr are second with one.
