Mexico face Costa Rica at the AT&T Stadium on Saturday (July 8) in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals.
El Tri enjoyed a solid continental campaign, opening with a 4-0 drubbing of Honduras before beating Haiti 3-1. They lost 1-0 to Qatar in their last game where they deserved more but were guilty of wasteful finishing as their opponents scored with a single shot attempt.
Mexico are eight-time winners of the continental showpiece, with their most recent triumph coming in 2019. They have made it past the quarter-finals in their last eight appearances and will be looking to extend that streak.
Costa Rica, meanwhile, lost 2-1 to Panama in their opening group game last month before holding El Salvador to a goalless draw in their second game. However, they secured their place in the knockout stages with a 6-4 win over Martinique in their final group match.
