Arsenal hope to complete their pre-season tour of the United States on Wednesday against a Barcelona side recovering from an outbreak of illness in the squad.
While Barca’s pre-season is yet to begin after they were forced to cancel their opening friendly on tour against Juventus, Arsenal have played three times this summer but with mixed results.
After being held to a 1-1 draw by FC Nuremberg, the Gunners swept the MLS All-Stars but beat Premier League rivals Man Utd 2-0 on Saturday.
Arsenal’s performance against United raised some concerns, although Mikel Arteta has plenty of time to hit his optimum form for the 2023/24 season. Another tricky test awaits the North London club in the form of the La Liga champions.
