Paris Saint-Germain confirm signing of Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of French defender Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich.

Personal terms were agreed with Lucas in May around the same time as a deal was struck to bring Manuel Ugarte to the French capital, but a deal with Bayern has proved a little trickier.

A fee of around €50m was eventually agreed between the two clubs and Lucas has now sealed his move to PSG, signing a five-year deal until 2028.

Lucas was born in Marseille and never played club football in France. He moved to Spain at the age of four and joined Bayern in 2019 for a fee of €80 million after coming through Atletico Madrid’s academy.

However, injury would be a problem for Lucas in Germany. He made just 107 appearances for the club in four seasons at Bayern and played just 11 games last year due to various serious fitness issues.

Lucas will now have the chance to regain his fitness in Paris as Bayern look to replace France international Kim Min-jae from Napoli. The South Korean release clause has been triggered and paid, with the €50m deal expected to be completed imminently.
