Barcelona have been given the green light by La Liga for their financial feasibility plan for the summer transfer window, with official confirmation expected in the next 24 hours.
The Catalans can finally start advanced negotiations and bids for their targets, a list that includes Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez, a defensive midfielder, a left winger and most notably Lionel Messi.
However, Barça will have to stick to their plan to a T to make sure there are no registration complications. This means making money by selling players. Fortunately, it seems that Barcelona are already working to tighten the screw.
Barcelona are now working on selling three players, according to the ever-reliable Gerard Romero. Two of these are considered “important sales”. They also claim that the three departures would allow the signing of Gundogan and Messi.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta already met Messi’s father today. Jorge Messi has confirmed that a return to the club is ‘definitely a possibility’.
There are several players at Barcelona who could be on their way out as early as next week. Clement Lenglet has ended his loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur but the London outfit are keen to retain his services for next season for the right price.
Meanwhile, Sergino Dest will almost certainly not continue at the club. Union Berlin are in contact with the player and hope to sign him on loan as they have secured Champions League football for next season.
However, neither of these two can raise enough money to help Barcelona. The important sales in question could involve Ansu Fati and/or Ferran Torres.
Reports claimed that it would be a miracle if the Spaniard continued at Barcelona next season and that they should start preparing for their departures. While the sports staff apparently want Fati to stay, Torres is not in the plans for next season.
Fati could fetch Barca close to €40-50m if sold, while Torres’ valuation is less than €35m.
Franck Kessie is also on the transfer list, especially as Barça push to sign Gundogan in a move for Bosman. They presented a three-year contract for the midfielder and guaranteed a starting place in the team.
Inter Milan are monitoring Kessie’s situation and could sign him if the player decides to leave Camp Nou.
