The Parisian giants wish to offload him now to avoid losing him for free next year. And despite everything that has happened in the past, they are willing to sell the 24-year-old superstar to Real Madrid in the summer.
With Los Blancos already shelling out more than €100m to sign Jude Bellingham, there may be some problems raising the capital to finance Mbappe’s move, which is expected to cost more than €150m.
Jason Burt of The Telegraph reports that Real Madrid could potentially offer midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to PSG in order to secure Mbappe’s signature at a lower price.
Tchouameni only joined the Merengues from AS Monaco last summer in a deal worth €100m including add-ons.
It is widely known that PSG were also interested in signing the French midfielder, but he beat them to the punch as did Liverpool after learning of Real Madrid’s interest and ending up at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Tchouameni, thrust into the limelight soon after his arrival due to Casemiro’s departure, has made a great start in Madrid. However, his form dipped in the second half of the season, which saw him fall behind Toni Kroos and Eduardo Camavinga in the pecking order.
Despite this, manager Carlo Ancelotti and the club in general have complete confidence in the young French midfielder.
So it’s a bit hard to imagine Real Madrid offering Tchouameni plus cash to sign Mbappe this summer. The Merengues will go after the 24-year-old striker, but it seems highly unlikely that a player of Tchouameni’s potential and quality will be traded in the deal.
