Emiliano Martínez after Argentina win: Alejandro Garnacho is a little star

Emiliano Martínez spoke to the media following Argentina’s 2-0 win vs. Australia.

Martínez kept a clean sheet for Argentina and made a great save early in the second half to keep Argentina’s 1-0 lead. The World Cup winner and Best goalkeeper in the world spoke to the media after the win. Here is what he had to say:

“It was a difficult match, they pressured man to man. But we faced it well and continued.

“Today we felt at home, the people of China showed us a lot of love.

“These guys are winners, no one wants to lose. You realize that every one who enters is hungry”

“Garnacho is a very humble guy, with a lot of desire. He came, he worked, he didn’t talk much. He’s here with a great desire to play. He is a little star who hopefully will give us a lot.

Leo (Lionel Messi) gave us everything as a footballer. It’s a pleasure to see him play. He’s on another level.”

Dibu also spoke in a separate interview with TyC Sports:

“This group has the ambition to continue winning and every one knows that the bar was set very high after the World Cup in Qatar.”

In regards to Lionel Messi’s statement about not playing at the 2026 World Cup:

“How can we not respect him with all that Leo has given us and continues to give us? The truth is that the way he is playing, we would never want him to leave.

Once more, he spoke about Alejandro Garnacho:

“Garnacho is a little star and I hope we can help him to adapt so that he can give us a lot as (Ángel) Di María gave us.”
