Lionel Messi scored an incredible goal and dazzled everyone in Argentina’s 2-0 win vs. Australia.
Messi did what Lionel Messi does best and scored just 1:19 seconds into the match.
It took less than two minutes for Argentina to take a 1-0 lead. Enzo Fernández would win the ball in midfield and drive forward while passing it to Messi. The best player in the world would dribble past a defender and place the ball into the side of the goal to give Argentina a 1-0 lead.
The World Cup winners went close a few more times, most notably Messi, who had a chance from a difficult angle but his effort hit the side-netting. He would also try to set up Alexis Mac Allister for the keeper to get in front of Mac Allister and shut him down.
Emiliano Martinez would save a lot. It was a pass into the box for Australia but their effort was saved by Martinez from very close range.
Lionel Scaloni would substitute at half-time. Germán Pezzella replaced Nicolás Otamendi as Otamendi appeared to have taken a knock in the first half.
Argentina would get a second goal in the second half. A corner kick for Argentina and Messi played short to Rodrigo De Paulo, who crossed Pezzella and headed it 2-0 for the world champions.
Alejandro Garnacho would make his debut in the Argentine national team. He was brought in for Nicolás González. His first touch and pass in an Argentina shirt was for Lionel Messi.
Scaloni would rotate more when Enzo brought on Leandro Paredes and Rodrigo De Paul Guido Rodríguez.
Lionel Messi would dribble past several Australian players in what would likely become his top 20 best dribble. An incredible piece of skill.
Argentina would go on to win 2-0 and their next match is against Indonesia in Jakarta on June 19.
