The Young Lions of Teranga dispatched The Gambia with a routine 2-0 win in Cairo to maintain Senegal’s dominance of African football at all levels.

Japan is appearing in its 11th FIFA U-20 World Cup, with a best finish of second place in 1999. The Blue Samurai have made it to the semi-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup to book their place at the World Cup.
