Italy U20 and Nigeria U20 battle for three points on matchday two of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup on Wednesday (May 24).
Both sides will be looking to build on their win from the first match. The Italians scored a 3-2 moral victory over victorious Brazil on Sunday. Cesare Casadei was the star of the show with a brace and an assist to help the Italians go into the break three goals up.
Marcos Leonardo shone in the second half to threaten a comeback from Brazil, but Italy held on to take all three points.
Meanwhile, Nigeria did the heavy lifting in a 2-1 win over debutants from the Dominican Republic. Edison Azcona opened the scoring for the Caribbean country in the 23rd minute.
The Flying Eagles equalized seven minutes later through Guillermo de Pena while Samson Lawal was on hand to take advantage of a defensive mix-up to score the winner in the 71st minute. Nigeria and Italy top Group D with three points.
