Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada.
There’s a party going on in Napoli, and that’s because Napoli are close to winning their third ever Serie A title. While the southern Italian club almost clinched their title at the weekend, they will need a win against Udinese on Thursday to claim the elusive title.
However, Napoli are still thinking about next season and Luciano Spalletti’s side are targeting the 22-year-old creative midfielder. That player is Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada, who broke Major League Soccer in 2023.
Almada has already won a World Cup and scored for Argentina’s national team since moving to MLS and has 4 goals in 6 games in 2023 and is tied for fourth in assists with 5.
According to Fichajes.Net, Napoli have been tracking Thiago Almada for some time and see the Argentine as a big update to the squad next season. According to sources, Almada would demand a transfer fee between 30-40 million dollars.
Almada has been a huge success for MLS, already coming in as a big prospect through Velez Sarsfield in Argentina, in two seasons in MLS Almada has scored 11 goals in 37 games. Almada has been seen as a big short-term signing for Atlanta United and it looks very difficult that Napoli will agree to allow the youngster to stay until the end of the 2023 MLS season and try to move him in the summer.
For MLS, a fee in the $30 million range would make Almada the largest exit sale in league history.
