Mauricio Pochettino has been announced as the new coach of Chelsea.
Pochettino is back as a manager in the Premier League. Chelsea announced on Monday that Pochettino has signed a contract with the club and will start his new role on July 1.
He signed a two-year contract. Chelsea co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley had this to say:
“Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward. He is a winning coach who has worked at the highest levels, in many leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development made him an exceptional candidate.
The 51-year-old began his managerial career at Espanyol in La Liga before coaching Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. He last coached Paris Saint-Germain for one season in 2021-2022.
