Bernardo Silva is a player who has a lot of admirers at FC Barcelona. The La Liga leaders have been interested in signing the Manchester City superstar for well over a year now, but finances have made it hard for them to acquire his services.

Barca will continue to have their sights set on Silva in the 2023 summer transfer window, although a transfer looks highly unlikely given Fair Play’s financial situation.

However, 90 Min report that Manchester City will not stand in the way of the Portugal international leaving this summer if he wants to leave. In that case, however, they will seek a transfer fee of around £75 million for Silva.

The 28-year-old has been the Premier League champions’ best player since joining the club in 2017 from AS Monaco. Silva is a key part of Pep Guardiola’s set-up and is understood to be open to a new adventure in his career.

The same was the case last summer when the midfielder was open to joining Barcelona. However, due to financial constraints, the Catalans could not rush in.

Now the situation remains much the same as Barça continue to dream of Silva and the player also has his eyes on a move to Catalonia, despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain who want to bring him to France.

However, meeting the £75m figure could be impossible for the Blaugrana at the moment. In addition, they have other priority operations at the moment such as the signing of former captain Lionel Messi and Silva’s Manchester City teammate Ilkay Gundogan.

Given their financial turmoil at Fair Play, they would need to make some significant sales to have any chance of getting Silva on their wage bill.

So the report adds that if Barcelona and Silva cannot agree on terms, the midfielder may not push for a move away from the Etihad and may even sign a new deal instead.3
