Why Is Manchester City vs Brighton Premier League game postponed on Saturday?

This weekend’s 2022-23 Premier League Matchday 32 clash between Manchester City and Brighton has been postponed until a later date. It was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Etihad in Manchester, but it has been canceled, as officially confirmed.

Manchester City’s home clash with Brighton and Hove Albion will no longer go ahead as planned this weekend.

Brighton, meanwhile, are battling to get back into the top half with a number of games in hand to play.

And they will get one more match in hand this weekend due to their clash with City being postponed.

Why has Man City vs Brighton been postponed?

Manchester City’s clash with Brighton at Etihad in the Premier League was postponed because of the team’s appearance in the FA Cup Semi-Finals versus Sheffield United this Saturday, April 22.

City have already met Brighton earlier in the season, with the champions coming out on top.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne secured a 3-1 win for City back in October.

That win against Brighton saw them bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.

After advancing to the UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals on May 9 and May 16, City’s only remaining week to face Brighton is the week beginning May 22. Considering that the last day of the Premier League season is on Sunday, May 28, it seems likely that the Brighton vs Manchester City matchup will take place on Wednesday, May 24.

What are City’s remaining league games?

After last weekend’s outing against Leicester, City will not be in Premier League action again until Wednesday May 26 – when they lock horns with Arsenal.

Four days later, they travel to west London to face Marco Silva’s Fulham.

The Manchester club then host West Ham before games against Leeds United and Everton.

They will then face Chelsea before their final game of the season away to Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

  • Fulham (A) – Sunday, April 30 at 2pm
  • West Ham (H) –  Wednesday, May 3 at 8pm
  • Leeds United (H) – Sunday, May 7 at 2pm
  • Everton (A) –  Sunday, May 14 at 2pm
  • Chelsea (H) – Saturday, May 20 kick-off time TBC
  • Brentford (A) – Sunday, May 28 at 4.30pm
