The battle to win the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League steps up a gear in May as four teams prepare to face off at the semifinal stage of the competition.

Defending champions Real Madrid are back in the last four after a 4-0 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the quarter-finals. They will face Manchester City in the semi-finals for the third and second season after the Citizens beat Bayern Munich 4-1 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, the other side of the group will see a tasty Milan derby as AC Milan and Inter Milan have both advanced and will meet at the San Siro in both legs of their semi-final series. The Rossoneri saw off Serie A leaders Napoli 2-1 on aggregate, while Inter Milan saw off Benfica 5-3 on aggregate.

Is there a Champions League semi final draw?

The draw for the Champions League semifinal was made as part of a combined draw with the quarterfinals on March 17.

Real Madrid, after eliminating Chelsea, will face Man City in one semifinal. The other semi will see AC Milan, winners of the tie against Serie A rivals Napoli, face city rivals Inter Milan.

They two Milan clubs also met at this stage in 2002/03 with AC Milan advancing on away goals. The away goals rule tiebreaker was done away with beginning in 2021/22.

When are Champions League semi finals 2023?

As part of the joint quarterfinal and semifinal draw in March, UEFA also confirmed the dates for both rounds of fixtures.

  • 2nd Legs: May 16/17, 2023

All kickoff times will be at 20:00 UK time and 15:00 ET.

Champions League semi finals schedule 2023

The exact dates for each semifinal — both first and second legs — will be confirmed by UEFA after the quarterfinals are completed on April 19.

The provisional schedule indicates AC Milan vs. Benfica/Inter Milan will be played on May 9 and May 16, with Man City/Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid set for May 10 and May 17, but this is subject to final official confirmation.
