Philadelphia Union found form with a 4-2 win over Toronto sparked by striker Mikael Uhre’s treble, ending their five-game winless run.

Mikael Uhre netted a hat-trick as Philadelphia Union snapped their five-game MLS winless run with a 4-2 victory over Toronto on Saturday.

The Union took an early lead through a Lukas MacNaughton own goal in the 16th minute before Denmark international Uhr scored a double before half-time.

Uhre added a third in the 56th minute to complete his hat-trick when he tapped Julian Carranza’s low ball across goal to put the game to bed.

Toronto pulled one back through Italy international Lorenzo Insigne in the 66th minute before Richie Laryea consoled him.

New England strengthened its hold on first place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 home win over last-place Sporting KC.

Giacomo Vrioni netted in the first half for the Revs, but Sporting pulled one back through Johnny Russell in the 50th minute, only to be reduced to 10 men when Andreu Fontas was sent off 10 minutes later.

The Revs lead Cincinnati second on goal difference, with Cincy winning 2-1 over the Portland Timbers on goals from Sergio Santos and Brandon Vasquez.

New York City moved into fourth place in the East with a 3-1 home win over Dallas that sparked a Santiago Rodriguez double.

Western Conference leaders St Louis City were denied victory after Michael Barrios’ 90th minute equalizer as they drew 1-1 at Colorado Rapids.

St Louis remain top of the West but only on goal difference from the Seattle Sounders, who condemned Minnesota United to three straight defeats with a 1-0 victory.

Denis Bouanga scored his seventh goal of the MLS season as LAFC drew 1-1 at Nashville as the LA Galaxy snapped their winless start to the campaign with a 2-0 home win over Austin.

Inter Miami’s run of defeats extended to six in a row, piling the pressure on boss Phil Neville as they lost 1-0 at the Houston Dynamo.

Real Salt Lake defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1, Charlotte defeated the Columbus Crew 1-0, struggling Montreal defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-0 and Christian Benteke scored as DC United won 3-1 at Orlando City.
