World Cup winners Argentina have returned to the top of the FIFA rankings for the first time in six years.

La Albiceleste (1840.93 points) leapfrogged Brazil (1834.21) after enjoying friendly wins over Panama and Curacao. France (1,838.45) also moved past Brazil after beating the Netherlands and Republic of Ireland in their opening round of UEFA EURO qualifying.

The first five are completed by Belgium with 1792.53 points and England with 1792.43 points.

Morocco, who joined Spain and Portugal in the 2030 World Cup bid plan, remained in 11th place to lead the African teams.

The biggest climber of all was the Central African Republic, who enjoyed a double-digit rise (10 places) on the back of back-to-back victories that saw them qualify for their first ever AFCON appearance.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on 20 July 2023.
