Saudi Pro League table, standings 2022/23 season: Can Ronaldo’s Al Nassr win title?

Cristiano Ronaldo Al Nassr

The Saudi Pro League is set for an entertaining final two months as the race for the league title is coming down to the wire with only 6-7 matches remaining in the 2022/23 season.

Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al Nassr side are three points behind leaders Al Ittihad, although the league leaders have a game in hand to double the gap to six points with six games remaining.

Al Nassr swapped managers after a disappointing 0-0 draw, but the replacement of Rudi Garcia with under-19 manager Dinko Jeličić did not bring immediate results with a 2-0 loss at Al Hilal.

Only this year’s Saudi Pro League champions will be guaranteed a place in the 2023/24 AFC Asian Champions League. The other two places in the Saudi Arabian Champions League group stage belong to last season’s league champion (Al Hilal) and the winner of the 2022/23 King Cup, to be determined in May. A place in the Champions League qualifiers has already been awarded to last season’s 2021/22 King Cup winner (Al Feiha).

In the relegation zone, the bottom three sides will be relegated to the first division of the league, with Al Batin on the brink of going through the trap door in 2022/23. Al Khaleej and Al Adalah are also trying to avoid relegation right away after earning promotion from the second division last season.

Sporting News will follow the Saudi Pro League 2022/23 standings below, with just seven matchdays remaining until the season ends on May 31.
