Manchester United will look to bounce back from their defeat to Newcastle on Sunday and reassert themselves in the UEFA Champions League race when they host Brentford in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils suffered a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park and they could drop into fifth by the time they host the Bees on Wednesday if Tottenham avoid defeat at Everton.
The Bees have ambitions of European qualification themselves but were held to an enthralling 3-3 draw by Brighton at the AMEX Stadium in their most recent outing.
Man Utd team news
Midfielder Casemiro remains suspended for this game and the following clash with Everton, leaving Erik ten Hag with another decision to make in the centre of the park. With Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek also sidelined, the spots will go to two of Scott McTominay, Marcel Sabitzer and Fred.
Anthony Martial made his return from injury as a substitute in the defeat to Newcastle but probably has a few more yards to put in before he makes the starting XI.
Man Utd predicted lineup (4-2-3-1):
De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Fred, Sabitzer; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Weghorst.
Brentford team news
Brentford switched to a three-player defence in their 3-3 draw with Brighton on Saturday and Thomas Frank may be tempted to deploy the same formation here. It was in effect when the Bees stung Man Utd 4-0 earlier this season.
Vitaly Janelt could come into central midfield for Mikkel Damsgaard if fit but otherwise it could be a similar side to the one at the weekend.
Brentford predicted lineup (3-5-2):
Raya; Jansson, Pinnock, Mee; Hickey, Janelt, Norgaard, Jensen, Henry; Mbeumo, Toney.
