Bayern Munich vs Man City XI: Possible lineups and team news for this 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League match

Bayern Munich will need to produce one of their greatest-ever UEFA Champions League performances to find a way past Manchester City in their quarterfinal second leg.

City stormed to a dominant 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium against the Bavarians last week to give Pep Guardiola’s team a commanding first-leg advantage.

Thomas Tuchel has called on his side to rally ahead of the return meeting at the Allianz Arena with the former Chelsea head coach ready to take an attacking approach against Guardiola’s treble-chasers.

Bayern Munich team news

Sadio Mane will be back in the Bayern squad after serving a one-game internal suspension for punching teammate Leroy Sane in the aftermath of the first leg, but whether he will start is a different question.

Tuchel was boosted by the return to training of striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Monday’s session was completed in full by the 34-year-old, who may be thrown straight in up top as Bayern seek to score at least three goals.

Manuel Neuer and Lucas Hernandez remain out.

Bayern Munich predicted lineup (4-2-3-1):

Sommer; Pavard, Upamecano, De Ligt, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Sane; Choupo-Moting.

Man City team news

Phil Foden remains City’s only absentee as he recovers from surgery to remove his appendix.

Pep Guardiola made a point of withdrawing his biggest names against Leicester to protect them here, with the likes of Erling Haaland and Rodri sticking around until the job was done before being wrapped up and kept safe.

Man City predicted lineup (3-2-4-1):

Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Ake; Stones, Rodri; Silva, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland.
