Brazil has rejected the chance to hire former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique, according to Sport.
However, the 52-year-old is not too bothered by the rejection as he is under fire from Chelsea with Blues boss Graham Potter. He is waiting for an opportunity to join a Premier League club.
The former Spain boss recently left his position at La Roja after crashing out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the round of 16 against Morocco.
There have been reports that he is the frontrunner for the Brazil job as their long-time coach Tite has also resigned.
But it looks like the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has moved on from Enrique’s idea. They are monitoring Carlo Ancelotti’s situation at Real Madrid.
Enrique is on Chelsea’s radar due to the club’s problems and lack of performance this season.
Under Potter, the Blues have won just twice in their last 16 games. They have lost their last three, including Sunday’s 2-0 loss to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are fourth on the EPL log and have opened up a 14-point deficit on tenth-placed Chelsea. Champions League qualification for next season now seems unlikely.
The Champions League looks unlikely this season, with the club already having one foot out the door. Borussia Dortmund beat them 1-0 in the first leg of the Round of 16 in Germany.
Potter has two games to turn things around at the club or there will be consequences.
The club’s management still believe in him, but the fans don’t and they made their voices heard with loud boos after some terrible performances.
Todd Boehly/Clearlake Consortium may decide to listen to the fans and let him go.
Enrique will be waiting for them with open arms to join. He is interested in the job and if he is offered a chance, he will take it.
Chelsea have reportedly contacted Enrique to open talks in case Potter leaves. Enrique awaits developments in London.
