LaLiga says it has now issued seven complaints regarding racist abuse being directed towards Vinicius Junior.
LaLiga has filed a complaint at a Seville court after Vinicius Junior was again subjected to racist abuse in Real Madrid’s goalless draw at Real Betis on Sunday.
Vinicius suffered racist abuse in two matches against Atlético Madrid this season, while similar incidents were reported in matches against Real Mallorca and Real Valladolid.
Footage captured Betis supporters shouting racial slurs at Vinicius during Sunday’s stalemate at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, prompting LaLiga to resort to legal action once again.
The league’s statement read: “In light of the racist insults directed at Vinicius Junior during the Real Betis-Real Madrid match on Sunday, March 5, LaLiga has sent a complaint to the Tribunal of Instruction in Seville to identify the person responsible. and take appropriate legal action.
“This is the seventh complaint that LaLiga has made to the relevant authorities regarding racist insults against Vinicius Junior.”
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said last month that racism was a problem throughout Spanish football, adding: “Vinicius is the victim of something I don’t understand. It has to be resolved.”
