Argentina will play their first match since lifting the 2022 World Cup when they host Panama in a friendly on Thursday.
The South American giants are set to receive a wild welcome home at El Monumental which can hold over 80,000 fans.
Is Messi playing in Argentina vs Panama?
Messi was named in Scaloni’s 35-man Argentina squad for the March international break.
That means the PSG star will be eligible to play against Panama and it seems likely he will start as the World Cup hero is given the chance to be cheered on home soil.
Argentina’s large squad means there is a chance Messi will only feature in one of their two scheduled friendlies considering how much football he has played over the past year.
Messi played the full 90 minutes in PSG’s last match against Rennes and has only missed a handful of club games this season on top of playing every World Cup game for his country.
With the 35-year-old contemplating his future with the Argentina national team, Scaloni may be hoping these games can convince Messi to remain on board for another World Cup cycle.
