Report: Tottenham target Piero Hincapie signs new Bayer Leverkusen deal

Piero Hincapie, who impressed for Ecuador at the World Cup, has pledged his immediate future to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

Highly rated Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until 2027.

The Ecuador international impressed following his move from Argentine side Talleres ahead of the 2021-22 season and was linked with a move to Premier League outfit Tottenham in the January transfer window.

Qatar has 24 international caps for Ecuador under his belt, playing every minute of the country’s three World Cup matches.

Leverkusen are keen to keep the player and have extended his existing contract by a year to avoid potential legal action.

Hincapie said: “They didn’t give me much promise here, but they gave me the time I wanted as a young player at the highest level.

“I can establish myself here and solidify my place in the national team.

Confirming my success in the coming years and winning the title with Bayer Leverkusen is a big motivation for me. “
