It was reported Lionel Messi was close to reaching an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain in December, but he is yet to sign a new deal.
Paris Saint-Germain remain in contract talks with Lionel Messi, with the club’s football advisor Luis Campos hopeful of reaching an agreement.
The Argentine’s current deal expires in the summer, and while a renewal in the French capital has long been expected, the two sides are yet to come to an agreement.
Messi has been consistently linked with a return to Barcelona, while moves to MLS and Saudi Arabia have also been made in the past few months.
But Campos insists PSG are working to tie Messi down to a new contract and talks are ongoing.
“At the moment we are in talks with Messi about his extension. I would like to keep him in this project, I can’t hide it,” Campos told Telefoot.
“We are talking at this point to achieve that goal and to continue to have him with us.”
After a slow first season at PSG, Messi returned to top form this campaign either side of a famous World Cup-winning campaign with Argentina.
In 24 games in all competitions, Messi scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists for the French champions.
