Ruslan Malinovskiy’s stunner settled an enthralling Classique in Marseille’s favour as they beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 to reach the Coupe de France quarter-finals.

Malinowski’s superb winner was the reward for a thrilling Marseille display at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday.

Igor Tudor’s side scored 12 shots in the first half and took the lead through an Alexis Sanchez free-kick in the 31st minute that was canceled out by Sergio Ramos’ header.

Ramos thought he had denied himself a tie with a penalty when he headed home in the match, but an offside flag saved Marseille.

Confused to talk. Pau Lopez denied Nuno Mendes, saved Malinowski’s effort and saw Sead Kolasinac’s shot go wide before Gianluigi Donnarumma’s cross from Cengiz Under.

PSG’s advantage ended when Ramos went down in the area – Sanchez sent Donnarumma the wrong way from the ground and became the first Marseille player to score in a home Clasico since Florian Tavin in 2017.

Neymar curled a superb low shot onto the right-hand post, but the woodwork saved PSG after Donnarumma’s save from Jonathan Klaus.

Ramos conceded Neymar’s corner to make up for Marseille’s deficit before half-time.

Malinowski fired a dangerous half-volley past Donnarumma from the edge of the box to equalize after just 12 minutes.

A perfectly timed save from Valentin Rongier prevented Mendes from scoring as PSG looked for an immediate response.

Marseille were lucky not to continue Ramos’ strike, but 14-time Coupe de France champions PSG crashed at the same stage last season.
