Cristiano Ronaldo has played his game for Manchester United after an agreement was reached for his contract to be terminated.

Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, the Premier League club have confirmed.

The development comes a week after Ronaldo unsettled the club in a candid TV interview with Piers Morgan.

“Cristiano Ronaldo

will leave Manchester United by mutual consent with immediate effect,” read the club’s statement:

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution in two games at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family the best of luck for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to achieve success on the pitch.”

Ronaldo joined United for a second time last year but has fallen out of favor this season under new manager Erik ten Hag.

The 37-year-old released his own statement, which read: “Following discussions with Manchester United, we have mutually agreed to terminate our contract early.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never change. But I feel the time is right for me to look for a new challenge.”

“I wish the team the best of luck for the rest of the season and for the future.”
