Speaking in the wake of his Paris Saint-Germain team’s 3-0 win over Ajaccio, Christophe Galtier was keen to stress the importance of Lionel Messi in his team, with the Argentine once again at the heart of his side’s success on Friday night.

Messi assisted both of Kylian Mbappé’s strikes and finished off a tangled move with the Frenchman ten minutes from time, capping a superb all-round performance as part of a two-man forward line.

“[…] They are always difficult games, Ajaccio did well to put us under pressure for 25 minutes. From the moment the pressure dropped and we managed to keep the ball, we created some interesting chances, like the first goal. The players performed well technically.”

“In the second half, the pace was less intense and we had technical control. We had some key moments and didn’t score, which gave Ajaccio some hope, before our two wonderful goals, including Messi. People go to the stadium to watch Leo play – he is the best player ever. He likes to play with others, he has the quality to want to play with others, he is very altruistic and he was amazing with the second goal.”
