Cristiano Ronaldo is having a rough time and his sister knows it. But despite his performances, she has defended him from the “sick” critics and slammed Portuguese fans for it.
This year has not been too kind to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Manchester United striker is struggling both in his club and in the national team. But he was heavily criticized by fans after a poor game against Portugal and his sister appeared to be defending him from the “sick” critics.
With Qatar 2022 around the corner, it is uncertain whether Cristiano Ronaldo will live up to expectations with Portugal. Personally, he is not a starter in Erik ten Haga’s Manchester United squad and there are many doubts about his World Cup form.
As if that were not enough, the situation is similar with Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo is the captain of the team but he has not been able to be decisive in the national colors and thus he is heavily criticized by the fans for his performances.
Katia Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, slams Portuguese fans and called them “ungrateful”
In the final match of the 2022 UEFA Nations League group stage, Portugal faced Spain at the Braga Stadium. Unfortunately for them, Alvaro Morata’s late goal secured victory for the visitors. Cristiano Ronaldo immediately took all the criticism as fans think he hasn’t done that much for his national team recently.
Katia Veiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, posted a story in support of her brother through her Instagram account. She called the Portuguese fans ungrateful for what they are doing to the Manchester United striker and they have forgotten the best moments they have had thanks to him recently.
“He has his family by his side and those who love him. They will always be by his side no matter what,” the 44-year-old wrote about Cristiano Ronaldo. “But the present times do not surprise me at all. The Portuguese spit on the plate they eat from, it’s always been that way. That’s why when someone rises from the ashes and changes their mentality, it bothers me… Always with you, my king, calm down .
“It’s cruel. And there was already so much, but so much that he gave and gives. The one sitting is called Cristiano Ronaldo and he is simply the best player in the world,” added Katia Aveiro.
