The dissonance of winning the Premier League and another Champions League knockout exit has prompted more spending for Manchester City this close season.

While Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips look to make major signings, Fernandinho, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus are headed for the exits.

According to reports, despite interest from abroad, City are not willing to let go of one particular player.

Manchester City have no intention of selling Bernardo Silva to Barcelona despite reports from Spain suggesting otherwise.

Pep Guardiola was prepared to let the talented midfielder move to Spain last year for personal reasons, but Barcelona failed to raise the necessary funds to make the deal happen.

Meanwhile, the Portugal international has become a key element in City’s midfield and Guardiola now sees him as an important part of his plan for the coming season.

Despite advice from Spain that City have given Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes the go-ahead to complete a deal, the Premier League champions are said to be keen to keep hold of their star.
