Manchester United make offer for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United have made an offer of €43m, potentially rising to €45m with add-ons, to Dutch champions Ajax for top defensive target Lisandro Martinez.

Manchester United are focused on the Argentine international after progressing on transfers to Barcelona’s Frankkie de Jong and Feyenoord’s Tyrell Malacia.

Lisandro Martinez is the next target, Erik ten Hag’s intention to bring the 24-year-old to Old Trafford amid interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal. It is understandable that the official offer has now been made by Manchester United, his own higher than Arsenal’s two special offers; your latest € 40m plus extras.

Ajax are believed to have made the player worth around € 50 million, but Manchester United are hopeful a deal could be reached. Manchester United firmly believes the player would like to move to Old Trafford and has now advanced to the Gunners in a flexible defender race, which can be played backwards, left-back and midfield.

Manchester United are hoping to have a host of new signings when they fly on their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia on Friday. The Malacia deal has been sealed, with Manchester United hoping for De Jong’s departure at the time of his departure.

Depending on how negotiated he plays for Martinez, he could rejoin the departing team, Manchester United are confident Christian Eriksen will choose Old Trafford after a contract offer to Dane. Brentford would also like to bring Eriksen back after the end of his contract on June 30, although some Premier League clubs are still in the race.

Eriksen wants to be convinced of Manchester United’s exchange plans before committing – his contract may depend on their success by luring other key players to the club – even though another important exchange goal, Antony, has a high value set by Ajax in his head.

Any Brazilian defender contract could take a long time if Manchester United continue to follow suit. Ajax are not in a position to sell the player following another move this summer, and their bank balance will soon strengthen with the transfer of Martinez.

Manchester United have pledged 43 million euros, which could be as high as 45 million euros if they have the addition, of Dutch champions Ajax, to secure a defensive goal for Lisandro Martinez.
